I have been back from France for a little over two months now, and these past few weeks–perhaps because of all the travel literature I’ve been reading, which you’ll soon hear more about in our new Reviews Section–I’ve begun to feel antsy. It’s not an unhappy antsy-ness, like some I’ve felt in the past, it’s just that I’ve been wishing I could wake up some mornings to the sun rising over a part of the world I’ve never seen before.
I’m not really in a position to hop a 747 to Tokyo, Kabul or Nairobi, and I have enough trouble waking up for the 5:30 am crack of dawn here in Massachusetts, so there’s no chance I’ve got the patience to stay awake for the next seven days in hopes of catching the next sunrise at 1:01 am on July 31 in Hammerfest, Norway, the Land of the Midnight Sun.
But plane flights and travel expenses aside, I’ve realized there’s an easier way to do this, and to take all of you along with me. So every day for the past week I’ve been searching for images of sunrises on Flickr, and I’d like to share all the places I’ve been watching the dawn over the past seven days with you.
