Women worth reading about. Image by Tom Redington.
As the world becomes more connected and everyone has access to more tools to reach out and share their passions, it’s becoming increasingly hard for me to keep up with all the awesome blogs/shops/books/etc. created by amazing female role models around the globe.
This month I want to share with you four incredible women from across the spectrum of fashion, exploration, sports, and art who inspire me daily.
1. Kate Harris
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to bike the Silk Road? How about skiing across part of Norway in freezing temperatures?
Whether these adventures make you snuggle deeper into your armchair or start booking plane tickets, you have to check out writer and adventurer Kate Harris. A master of both prose and the road, this Canadian explorer is changing the world through exploration of the remote and foreign through academic and environmental lenses.
2. The Salmon Sisters
Meet Claire and Teal Laukitis, two sisters from small-town Alaska with a passion for art, fashion, and bringing high-quality Alaskan seafood products to a worldwide audience.
These gals grew up spending their summers on the remote coasts of the Aleutian Chain at a family fishing homestead. Today, they design beautiful clothing and market Alaskan salmon with the same love they devote to their arctic home and trendy threads.
Check out their online store and follow their blog.

3. Hannah Brencher
Hannah Brencher will break your heart.
Brencher is the founder of The World Needs More Love Letters, an effort she started by writing over 400 letters to strangers all over the world to share some love and make a difference, one person at a time. Brencher is a beyond-gifted writer and speaker and shares her whole heart through her personal blog.
Visit her blog (Bring a box of tissues.), and fall in love with both Hannah and her effort to make the world a more loving place.
4. Kikkan Randall
Kikkan Randall is not only one of the world’s fastest and most awarded female skiiers, she is also an outstanding role model to young women the world over.
Kikkan’s signature bright pink hair and big smile are just the outer reflection of a big heart and passion dedicated to helping kids discover a love for the outdoors, staying active, and being healthy. She also advocates for action on climate change (As you might imagine, she’s a big fan of snow!) both in her home state of Alaska and abroad.
Kikkan is skiing her way to a better world, and you can follow along at her website.
