Please welcome our fantastic editor Beth as Go Girl of the Month!  Not only is she our fearless leader, but she is in the midst of taking over the world, while planning a wedding and buying her first home.  We are proud to have her as our fabulous Go Girl of the Month!

I am the Editor-in-Chief at Go Girl and have been living in Chicago for six months so far…who knows in the future!

I spend my days working at Rotary International, planning a wedding, buying a condo, applying to grad school, sitting on the board of Chicago Adventure Therapy, representing Portuguese-American youth, trying to keep my dog from eating candles, dreaming of traveling, and, of course, running the best magazine for globally minded women out there!

Before I sat down to do this survey I was trying to figure out how much breakfast an average person eats while participating in a fake Facebook chat.

I am inspired by people who take life by the horns, and my grandmother, who I aspire to be like every day.

I am passionate about making the world a better place, and seeing how best we can do it. I am also interested in social business, women’s empowerment, travel, global engagement, non-profits that use for-profit strategies, eating outside and, of course, ice cream, pick your flavor.

In my next life I want to come back as a diplomat. I’ve always wanted to live that life, but ultimately chose a different path for myself.

For dinner I usually switch it up with the love of my life, Marvin. When he’s cooking, it’s usually a delicious array of meat and rice infused with the flavors from his Haitian upbringing. When I’m cooking, it’s a creative mixture of whatever I can throw together, with ice cream for dessert (of course).

The last book I read was Reading Lolita in Tehran.

As a kid I was bossy, entrepreneurial and spirited. I was also in love with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Leonardo.

My friends would describe me as someone who never stops, who is always busy, and who is ridiculously proactive, to the point where it’s slightly annoying.

One thing I want to do in 2012 is grow a window garden of strong, sweet-smelling herbs. For me, it will be the ultimate challenge!

My next travel adventure is possibly Haiti to visit Marvin’s grandparents and then to Brazil for our honeymoon in September!

I suppose my dream travel destination (Do I have to pick just one place? Sigh) would have to be…Nepal. Or Morocco. Or Bali.

A Go Girl is someone who is always looking for ways to get involved in the world around her; who loves to travel and dig her fingers deep into an experience; and who believes women everywhere deserve the same rights as their global sisters.
