At Go Girl, we encourage women to get involved in the world around them. On our Twitter page, in less than 140 characters, we say that “we encourage travel, global engagement, volunteerism/activism, and general butt-kicking.”
But now, we’re not only encouraging it — we’re also living it!
Thanks to a team of dedicated Go Girls in Chicago, I am proud to introduce the very first Go Girl Live! networking event. This is an opportunity for powerful, globally engaged women (Go Girls of all backgrounds and experiences) to come together and meet one another in a fun environment, swap some business cards and — my favorite part — actively support a local organization making a difference for women around the world. Each event will have a specific focus and encourage engagement in a different issue.
May 24th is the launch date of our very first Go Girl Live! event, and its debut in Chicago will carve a template for other Go Girls to use around the world to gather and simultaneously support a worthy cause.
Our first event focuses on sex and women’s health. A happy hour and workshop called “The Anatomy of Pleasure” will benefit the Chicago Women’s Health Center, which provides healthcare on a sliding scale for women without insurance. We’ll also have special “Go to Girls” stoking the conversation. These include a sex blogger, a global women’s health activist, and others. If you donate $15 to the cause, we’ll also give you a free Go Girl cocktail and a gift bag with treats from local women-run and women-focused businesses. It doesn’t get much better than that!
