Nomadness Travel Tribe currently functions as a closed online social media group for travelers and expats all around the world. To get in, you have to have at least one international passport stamp, and our target demographic are travelers from an urban background. It’s young, innovative, and diverse. It was bred from me simply not finding an online travel community that I was interested in being engaged with. I didn’t feel I could relate to any of them, and frankly, found them boring and dry. So I decided, I’d create one of my own.

Nomadness TV actually came before the Tribe did. As I was living in Japan, I realized ten months into my twelve months there that no one from home was going to come visit me so I decided to take my experience to them. I started videotaping my life there and cutting little vignettes as webisodes and posting them to Facebook and my blog. Hence, the beginning of Nomadness TV.

What’s it like to travel with the Tribe?

Interesting. Anytime you put a group of 12-20 varying personalities together, and then in the context of traveling together, it’s going to make for some memorable moments. It’s a unique experience because we pay attention to the familial quality that our members foster online and look to naturally recreate that experience offline, whether at Meet Ups or on the NomadnessX trips. There’s an intimacy to our trips, not in the form of sex, but in personal relationships and bonds made among people who attend the trips. We also pride ourselves on doing things that our demographic aren’t noted for doing….like going to Pamplona, Spain and running with the bulls.

What tips do you have for a woman first venturing abroad?

Be smart, yet not overly paranoid about traveling alone. Fear will stop anyone from doing anything, if you allow it. Prepare well, but allow the experience to unravel on it’s own. You will be fine. Connect with locals. Be ok to take the less traveled road, and stand on your own. And link up with the Nomadness Tribe member while you’re out there.

What inspires you? Answer this however you’d like.

Curiosity and creating inspires me. I have a childlike curious quality to my personality that has never left and I do believe it fuels my quest for adventuring into the unknown, through travel. Creating is my personal form of expression and achievement. I taking nothing and creating something, especially if it resonates with others.

What do you want women around the world to know about you and what you’re doing?

I want them to know that Nomadness, with me as its creator, dared to be different, and that can be applied to any and all facets of life. Jump first, and perfect later, but just start. Nomadness is a world wide movement, but as with everything else, it started off as an idea. Don’t let a brilliant idea remain stagnant. Act on it. Go for it. Just move.
